Minor Fibrin Residue
Mechanical spray activity is good,
try improving chemical activity by
increasing enzyme hold time,
raising temp. or raising pH.
The system is working fairly well. Some relatively minor improvements
need to be made in the cleaning process. It is possible that a simple
increase in spray pressure may improve the cleaning, or an increase in
the wash temperature or washing time may provide just enough improvement
to clean the device completely.
Detergents work best if used in the temperature range of 140°F to 160°F.
Increase the temperature if necessary. Typical washer/disinfector
settings provide a strong dose of detergent and enzyme solution. It is
possible that this setting might need to be increased
but not in the majority of cases.
Make sure not to start the wash cycle with a hot rinse because hot water
can denature the albumin in blood and make it more difficult to clean.
Mechanical spray action can be improved by increasing the spray
pressure. This is accomplished by increasing motor speed of the spray
pump. Check for clogged spray arm orifices.
If the enzyme hold time (soak) can be increased, try that. On rare
occasions, the enzyme may not be at the correct temperature.
Temperatures below 110°F reduce their efficiency and temperatures above
140°F can actually destroy the effectiveness of enzyme cleaners.
ProFormanceTM can be cleaned without an enzyme soak but the
spray activity must be vigorous and a high pH detergent is usually
needed.
