SonoCheck User’s Guide
A. Periodic functional test
The periodic
functional test is performed quarterly or after repairs and for initial
set-up. This test will check for
uniform distribution of cavitation in the ultrasonic cleaner. Uniform distribution of ultrasonic
cavitation within the bath will ensure that the ultrasonic cleaner is working
to meet requirements and will allow safe performance of routine testing. In addition, the periodic functional test
will assist in optimizing or fine-tuning the ultrasonic cleaning process to
improve results if they are found to be unsatisfactory. Please refer to the SonoCheck
troubleshooting guide. The periodic
functional test is performed under normal conditions but in an empty ultrasonic
basket. See illustrations to the right
for placement locations for individual SonoChecks.
B Routine test
The routine
test is performed daily or in each load to monitor effective generation of
cavitation. Parameters such as: Water
level, de-gassing, instrument load and energy supplied by the transducers can
cause variations in the process that affect performance. Only routine testing
will detect ultrasonic performance deterioration and prevent ineffective ultrasonic
cleaning. The routine test is performed
under normal conditions with a normal load of instruments. See illustrations to
the right for placement locations for individual SonoChecks. Place the
SonoChecks vials in between the instruments.
Any previously identified weak spots can be monitored individually.
C Quality assurance
Use the functional log book and the routine log book to
record your results
Repeat the functional test after each service and as a quarterly check.
When loading the ultrasonic cleaner, do not place instruments in blind
spots and avoid placing critical instruments in weak spots.
