Initial Validation:

1.       Unscrew and open the LumCheck device (Ref. TI 105).  Detach part A from part B.

2.       Open protective ProFormanceTM LumCheck pouch and insert the test object part C into part B as demonstrated in the picture.

3.       Screw part A to part B of the LumCheck device close.

4.       Connect the LumCheck device to the rinse system of the washer with the luer-lock end or process it the same as cannulated instruments.

5.       Load the lumen washer/disinfector normally.

6.       Process as per normal procedure.

7.       After the cleaning process is completed disconnect the LumCheck and examine ProFormanceTM for visual cleanliness.

8.       Record results.

Routine use:

1.       At the beginning of each day in each lumen washer/disinfector, secure one ProFormanceTM in the LumCheck.

2.       Load the washer/disinfector normally.

3.       Process as per normal procedure.

4.       Open LumCheck and examine ProFormanceTM for visual cleanliness.

5.       Record the results.

Interpretation of Results:

Examine the stainless steel plate for presence of any test soil remaining.  ProFormanceTM should come visually clean in an efficient wash cycle.  The presence of a large amount of soil remaining on the device means a serious deficiency in washer efficiency.  A small amount of soil remaining indicates that conditions are slightly deficient.  See Interpretation Guide (available from your local representative or from SteriTec.) for more definitive interpretation assistance.

Storage and Handling:

Store ProFormanceTM LumChecks in the protective pouch at room temperature.  Keep away from disinfectants and fumes.  Do not open ProFormanceTM protective pouch until ready to use.  The ProFormanceTM Cleaning Effectiveness Test has a shelf life of one year from date of manufacture.
